Septarian is a beautiful crystal that is millions of years old. It holds a piece of time and wisdom within its swirling. Septarian is a mixture of Aragonite, Calcite, and Limestone. The yellow colored material is Calcite, the brown is Aragonite, and the outer grey is Limestone.
The name comes from the word “Septaria”, which usually refers to any concretion with internal cavities or cracks. This unique mineral was formed around 50 to 70 million years ago during Earths Cretaceous Period. Sea life during that time became attracted to the molten sediment that was produced by these massive volcanic eruptions.
Over time as sea life began to die, their chemical composition became enriched in sedimentary rock, forming the nodules we see today. As oceans began to recede around the world, the water within soon dried out and massive cracks formed internally. The chemicals within the dead sea life eventually crystallized and formed Aragonite “crusts” and drusy Calcite crystals.
Septarian is a powerful grounding stone. It can help you awaken your relationship with mother earth by connecting you to her nurturing energy. It is a stone of inner awakening, allowing you to replace old habits that no longer serve you with new practices.
Due to their millions of years old status, it shouldn't be a surprise that Septarians are stones of wisdom. They are used by many healers to help connect with past lives and understand past lessons that may have been lost through time.
