Stichtite is a rare and sought after mineral.
Stichtite is a magnesium chromium carbonate mineral that crystallizes in the form of masses, foliates, and spotted inclusions of other minerals. It was first discovered in 1910 in Tasmania, Australia by A.S. Wesley. He chose to name it after the mines manager, Robert Carl Sticht; an American metallurgist and chief executive of the infamous Mount Lyell Mining and Railway Company.
Since it’s initial extraction over 110 years ago, Stitchite has only been found a handful of times. These deposits are in Australia, Tasmania, South Africa, Canada, Zimbabwe, Sweden, Russia, Brazil, and India.
